#1677 Rose Silverstein

NAME: Rose Silverstein, if born in Eastern Europe, may have been Roza Zil'bershtejn [Yiddish] or Silberstein [German] from Zel'bershtejn.

Zil'bershtram and Zil'bershtrom were names found in Brest by Alexander Beider.

According the Alexender Beider (opus. cit.) the Yiddish name for a stone of
silver is "zilbershteyn" and the German is Silberstein

Roza may have been the Yiddish for redhead or rosy cheeks. Silverstein is
"litharge" or "lead monozide" and was a name assumed by a jeweler. ["A
Dictionary of Jewish Names and their History", Benzion C. Kaganoff].
